Luis Guillermo Guerra Aguilera
Visual Artist / Maritime Watercolour Artist
Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1963. He completed his studies in Graphic Design at the Instituto Profesional de Santiago in 1984, setting the stage for a lifelong dedication to capturing the essence of maritime and industrial landscapes through the refined medium of watercolour.
The Beginning
In 1986, he launched his first thematic collection focused on Chilean ports. Over the next decade, he developed private collections for companies, vividly portraying the docks, vessels, and artisanal and industrial fishing activities of the era. His work expanded to include themes of oil extraction in Magallanes and the large-scale copper mining operations in Chile’s Atacama Desert and the Andes Mountains.
From 1994 to 1997, Luis Guillermo worked in Argentina, creating watercolour collections centered on agrarian and urban landscapes, mountain ranges, and vineyards. Toward the end of this period, he returned to his maritime roots, depicting the ports of the Uruguay River, the Rio de la Plata, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo.
A Journey Across the Seas

Between 1997 and 2001, Luis Guillermo established himself in Madrid, where he explored and depicted the Spanish Mediterranean coast, the Canary Islands, and the Balearic Islands. During this time, his works began to gain recognition as valuable and collectible pieces in Spain.
In 2001, he relocated to Galicia in northwest Spain, where he became a Spanish citizen. Deeply inspired by the unique maritime and rural landscapes of Galicia, he immersed himself in capturing the essence of “Das Rías, as aldeas e os peiraos galegos,” with a special focus on the famed “Costa da Morte.” From his studio in the coastal village of Cee, he expanded his artistic reach to the Cantabrian coastline, holding numerous exhibitions in the region of Finisterre.
Between 2009 and 2018, Luis Guillermo broadened his horizons further, traveling to and painting the Aegean coast and the Bosphorus Strait. These visits enriched his portfolio with new themes, reflecting the beauty and vibrancy of these historic maritime locations.
The Artist Today

Since 2013, Luis Guillermo has been based in London, where he continues to explore new artistic frontiers. With a focus on ports, docks, and navigable rivers, he strives to capture the essence of the world’s seas as a unifying element of his work.
In the spirit of embracing the digital era and reaching a global audience, Luis Guillermo is now offering his artworks in a digitised format through a print-on-demand store. This platform allows art enthusiasts and collectors from around the world to access affordable, high-quality printed versions of his works. By using modern imaging technologies and efficient global shipping, he ensures that his unique and original creations are accessible to everyone, regardless of location.
Through this initiative, Luis Guillermo combines his mastery of traditional watercolour techniques with the opportunities of the digital age, inviting a broader audience to experience the timeless beauty of maritime and industrial landscapes. His mission remains steadfast: to depict the beauty, history, and life of maritime settings while offering art that is both personal and universally available.
